Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Locum Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work alongside a team of esteemed Cardiothoracic Surgeons in a vibrant healthcare facility located in Mishawaka, Indiana. This role is centered around assisting in surgery, including vein harvesting, with a strong emphasis on both inpatient and outpatient care.
Job Responsibilities- Assist in surgical procedures, primarily as a 1st assist.
- Perform rounding in the hospital and document care provided.
- Write prescriptions and order diagnostic tests.
- Conduct pre-operative physical exams and suture removals.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to communicate treatment plans.
- Respond to emergencies and utilize CPR/ACLS protocols as needed.
- Engage in patient care management including chest tube and pacing wire removal.
- Ensure all patient information is accurately documented in EMR (EPIC).
- Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a focus on Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Maquet vein harvesting techniques.
- Ability to perform first assist responsibilities (for NP candidates).
- Strong communication and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Current Indiana NP/PA license at time of submission - Required
- NCCPA certification for PAs - Required
- AANP certification for NPs - Required
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination - Required
