Montefiore Mount Vernon, a community-based hospital which is part of the Montefiore Health System, is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to join our team.

Position Summary:

The Surgical PA will provide medical care under the supervision of a surgeon, assisting with surgical procedures and managing perioperative care

Responsibilities:

• Perioperative Assessments, including obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
• Assisting in the Operating Room
• Managing post operative care
• Offering counseling and education to meet patients’ needs, making appropriate referrals

Experience and Education:

• Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school
• Bachelor’s Degree with a PA Surgery concentration, master’s degree preferred
• Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New York
• NCCPA(certified) DEA license/CPR-BLS/NPI/NCC PA required.
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care
• Prior experience as a Surgical PA
