Description
The per diem FNP provides direct evaluation and treatment of general ambulatory health services to Husson University Students. The per diem FNP will typically be the sole provider during scheduled shifts. Heath services provided include but are not limited to: in office laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of common infectious diseases and minor injuries; referrals to physician, as indicated; writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. Available shifts are based on staffing, the health needs of the campus community and primarily while students are in session. Clinical oversight of this position is provided by the primary FNP; the Director of Wellness provides administrative supervision.
Example of Duties
- Provides direct treatment to students within scope of practice.
- Works in conjunction with medical assistant to meet student's health needs.
- Coordinates and collaborates with regular providers (PCP, specialist, etc.) of health care to students
- Maintains outpatient records and is proficient in the electronic medical record.
- Proctors nursing students/interns, as needed
- Consults and provides guidance to medical staff, as indicated
- Maintains unrestricted FNP licensing within the State of Maine
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum MSN degree
Current, unrestricted State of Maine FNP Licensure
Current BLS for the medical provider certification
NPI and DEA number required
Experience:
3 - 5 years in the medical field, preferably in an ambulatory care setting with up-to-date knowledge of medical trends and procedures
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
Familiarity with ambulatory care, adolescent and adult health
