- Role: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner / Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant
- Setting: 100% Outpatient Clinical Care - 12-bed Symptom Management Clinic
- Duration: 6 weeks (Starts May 28)
- Shifts: 4 shifts/week, 10-hour day shifts (Mon-Fri, 7:30am-5:00pm)
- Patient Volume: Manage 12-14 patients per day
- On-call: No call or critical care responsibilities
- Minimum 1 year licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) experience; hematology/oncology experience preferred
- Active North Carolina license required
- Active North Carolina DEA registration required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA required
- Ability to attend orientation the day before your first scheduled shift
- Provide acute outpatient care for hematology/oncology patients experiencing chemotherapy side effects (nausea, vomiting, dehydration, fever)
- Assess and manage medication reactions in the nearby infusion suite
- Perform focused exams, order and interpret labs/imaging, and initiate treatment plans for symptom management
- Collaborate with oncologists, infusion nurses, pharmacists, and the multidisciplinary cancer care team
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record and uphold patient safety and quality standards
- Work in the largest cancer center in Eastern North Carolina with state-of-the-art facilities
