This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd Charleston, SC 29414.Under general supervision, the Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment to patients of the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center. Evaluates and treats psychiatric disorders and provides psychiatric nursing/monitoring when needed. Consults with and advises local physicians, community care givers, and relatives in the care and treatment of clients with mental illness.
Responsibilities for the Nurse Practitioner :
- Evaluate and treat psychiatric disorder and provide psychiatric nursing/monitoring and medications as needed.
- Consult with and advise local physicians, CDMHC treatment teams, community care givers and relatives to provide compressive collaborative care.
- Participate in monthly physician meetings and supervision, quarterly nursing meetings, and other meetings germane to the administration of clinical duties.
- Comply with all applicable BHDD Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CDMHC policies, procedures and regulations and all Federal and State laws as well as attends all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations.
- Prepare necessary paperwork related to patient records to comply with current local and state regulations. Comple required MIS data.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing at the master's level or doctoral level acceptable to the Board to include clinical experience.
- Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse and hold official recognition as Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Have advanced experience/knowledge of psychiatric illness/symptoms and psychotropic medications.
- A nursing license through the SC Board of Nursing must be obtained no later than 30 days of initial hire date.
- The employee is required to have a serviceable personal vehicle and a valid SC driver's license
- A master's degree in nursing and certification from the SC Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Must have advance experience/knowledge of psychiatric illness/symptoms and psychotropic medications.
- The ability to function in multi-disciplinary team.
