Job Description
MedStar Health is seeking experienced Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PA-C) to join our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center , one of the Mid-Atlantic region's premier academic tertiary and quaternary referral centers.
This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced Critical Care APPs to practice at the top of their license within a nationally recognized cardiovascular program while caring for some of the most complex and critically ill patients in the region. APPs work alongside experienced intensivists, cardiac surgeons, advanced heart failure specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams in a highly collaborative academic environment.
We welcome experienced ICU APPs from Surgical ICU (SICU), Medical ICU (MICU), Trauma ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, CICU, and other critical care experience who are interested in expanding their expertise in advanced cardiovascular critical care.
As the flagship hospital of the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI), MedStar Washington Hospital Center serves as a regional referral center for advanced heart failure, ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and complex cardiovascular critical care.
Position Highlights
* 900+ bed academic teaching hospital and major Mid-Atlantic referral center
* Flagship hospital of the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI)
* Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and regional ECMO referral center
* 40-bed closed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) service
* High-acuity cardiovascular and cardiothoracic critical care patient population
* Collaborative APP, intensivist, and cardiac surgery practice model
* Management of advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, ECMO, and mechanical circulatory support patients
* Exposure to complex cardiac surgery and vascular surgery populations
* 13-hour day and night shifts
* Strong APP autonomy with robust physician support

Qualifications
* Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program

* Advanced procedural experience is preferred
