Other Nurse Practitioner

ATC West Healthcare is seeking a certified Physician Assistant for ongoing PRN Cardiothoracic Surgery coverage. The ideal candidate must have strong first assist experience in CABG, AVR, MVR, thoracotomy, and lung resection procedures, along with inpatient telemetry and ICU management experience. This role supports the CT surgery team with operative, inpatient, and call responsibilities while the facility recruits an additional Full time PA.

Dates & Schedule

• Assignment Type: PRN/Ongoing coverage
• Coverage Needs:
  • May 31 June 13, 2026
  • June 6 8 is considered critical coverage
  • July
  • Additional ongoing dates anticipated for the foreseeable future
• Schedule:
  • One weekend per month
  • Call shifts: 7:00 AM 7:00 AM
  • Weekend call begins Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM
• Credentialing Timeframe: days

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Practice Setting: Inpatient and Operating Room
• Duties Include:
  • First assisting in:
    • CABG
    • AVR
    • MVR
    • Thoracotomy/lung resection cases
  • Vein harvesting
  • Chest tube placement
  • Telemetry and ICU patient management
  • Inpatient rounding
  • Surgical and procedural support
  • Weekend surgery and call coverage
• EMR System: Epic
• Support Staff:
  • No additional support staff needed
  • Provider works directly in support of CT surgeons
• Reason for Coverage:
  • Facility is currently down one Physician Assistant and recruiting for an additional FTE

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified Physician Assistant required
• Active Kentucky license required
• ACLS, BLS, and DEA certifications required
• Must be proficient in:
  • CABG
  • AVR
  • MVR
  • Thoracotomy/lung resection first assist procedures
  • Vein harvest and chest tube placement
• Clean malpractice history preferred
• Availability should be stated at time of name clear
• Self-Query NPDB report required at presentation
  • Report must be dated within 30 days of submission
• Candidates without a KY license, inability to perform required procedures, or significant malpractice concerns will not be considered
