Level I Trauma Center. Inpatient cardiothoracic coverage. Long-term contract opportunity.

We re seeking an experienced Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery for a locum assignment in Hartford, Connecticut. This opportunity offers inpatient-only coverage across two hospital sites within a high-acuity surgical environment.

Coverage Details

Start Date: Mid July
Contract Length: 6 12 months
Coverage needed during active recruitment efforts and summer vacations

Schedule

Monday Friday
8-hour day shifts
Potential call and 24-hour shift coverage
Call schedule and ratio TBD

Practice Environment

Inpatient-only coverage at two hospital sites
Level I Trauma Center
Average patient census: 10 patients per day
Provider works autonomously
No supervising physician onsite during assignment
No new graduates accepted
Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patient population

Required Duties

Pre-op physical exams
Suture removal
Diagnose and treat illnesses
Order and interpret tests
Assist in surgery
Write prescriptions
Coordination of care
Patient rounding

Required Procedures

Placement of central venous and dialysis catheters
Placement of arterial lines
Intra-aortic balloon pump placement
Endoscopic retrieval procedures
No balloon pump management required

Candidate Requirements

NCCPA Board Certified
Active Connecticut License required
Minimum 1 year experience required
ACLS required
BLS required
Must be able to perform all required duties and procedures
Must be available to start by mid July
Must cover both hospital sites approximately 35 miles apart
Provider must be local only mileage reimbursed
EPIC experience preferred
